Staff Safety Workshops - Victoria  

We offer a wide variety of workshops, bookings can be made by phone/fax on 9579 0800 or email info@rodcatterall.com.au.  All payment must be made prior to commencement. Detailed training notes will be provided for all participants on the material presented and light lunch is included in cost. 

These training workshops conform to the National Competancy Standards and is consistent with Department of Human Services Code of Practice for the Prevention & Management of Violence and the Worksafe Guide on Occupational Violence.   

Managing Bullying & Challenging Behaviours  – East Bentleigh 14th March 2013

Venue:            Virginia Park Conference Centre,

Time:              Arrive at 9.30am start 10am finish 3pm

Cost:               $225.00 (Includes GST, detailed training notes, coffee, tea & lunch provided)    

Workshop is aimed at staff or parents who support people with challenging or aggressive behaviours. This could include teachers, reception & admin staff, nursing staff, disability workers, mental health care staff, welfare workers among others.
            In this workshops the following will be covered: legal issues, duty of care, proactive & reactive response to bullying, cause & effect of bullying incl trauma and how that manifests into challenging behaviours, along with simple strategies on how to identify, prevent and manage bullying & challenging behaviours at your school. Workshop will also involve scenarios on bullying & challenging behaviours which will enable participants to learn and work through the issues better. 

Functional Behaviour Support Training – East Bentleigh 21st March 2013

Time:              Arrive at 9.30am start 10am finish 3pm

Cost:               $225.00 (Includes GST, detailed training notes, coffee, tea & lunch provided)    

Workshop is aimed at staff who work with clients with BOC behaviours of concern, where there may be a risk of aggression & or violence. This could include teachers, case managers, nursing staff, disability workers, mental health care staff, welfare workers and aged care among others.                  

              In this workshops the following will be covered: warnings sign and triggers, start chart documentation, how to establish the function & need behind the behaviour and to find a replacement behaviour that meets the same need in a more positive way. To then assist and improve your existing EBSP/ care plan for the client to keep staff and others safe. 

Ethical Response Safety Training – East Bentleigh 28th March 2013

Time:              Arrive at 9.30am start 10am finish 3pm

Cost:               $225.00 (Includes GST, detailed training notes, coffee, tea & lunch provided)    

Workshop is aimed at staff or parents who work with people where there may be a risk of aggression & or violence. This could include teachers, reception & admin staff, nursing staff, disability workers, mental health care staff, welfare workers, home care, personal care, community care, and aged care among others.

            In this workshops the following will be covered: assessing risk and minimising risk; legal issues, managing your own feelings in difficult circumstances and therapeutic crisis response techniques.  Along with learning the warning signs and triggers, how to defuse a possible situation before it escalates out of control.  Participants will learn a number of simple techniques for escaping from different grips and grabs with an emphasis on techniques that do not induce pain. Workshop will also involve two person escort, and a rear re direction techniques.
